Spend time on things that are profitable not on things you like. This was a main point made by Chris Doyle at Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing Spring Fling 2009 in the context of treating your Fortune business as a business. We all know that a real business takes time and you need to work at it every day. Getting rich overnight should not be the expectation for everyone joining FHTM, or any MLM business.
You are starting your own MLM network marketing business using the systems, products and training from that MLM. FHTM reputedly provides the best back office, tools, training support, services, etc. But your own business needs one more thing, YOU. You control how much time you spend on FHTM. The key to FHTM success is recruitment.
If you are lucky, lucky beyond belief, you would tell 3 people about FHTM who in turn would all work on their own to get their 3 reps and so on without any involvement from you and your residual income would grow and grow. Even better, you got them from an email you sent and you never had to actually talk to anyone. Wouldn't that be nice? It just doesn't happen that way.
This business choice is best suited for a person who likes to talk to people. There are very successful FHTM husband and wife teams where one talks to people, recruits, shows the program and the other 'takes care' of the everything else. That could be back office chores, record keeping, setting up meetings and answering FHTM questions. It's all about people whether you call it recruitment, network marketing or prospecting.
You need to recruit and then provide leadership for the team you are developing. To avoid that, many new FHTM reps focus only on the things they don't like about the program. Or 'learning' the program becomes their passion taking days and weeks to accomplish. "It's better to be ignorance on fire than knowledge on ice" says Scott Aguilar.
New reps should be finding out what recruiting techniques work for them or how to train their reps. FHTM has an excellent duplicable formula that can be put in place and used over and over by FHTM reps. This formula is extremely successful.
This is why it is so valuable for reps to attend meetings. The top earners at FHTM give the reps plenty of opportunity to learn from them, people like Ruel Morton, Joel McNinch, Steve Jordan, Bob Decant, JoAnne McMahon, Gilbert Anderson, Pastor Jerry Brown, Terry and Sandi Walker, Todd Rowland, Chris Doyle, Roger McKay and Sheri Winter. And the best example of all, Paul Orberson the million dollar a month network marketer and founder of Fortune Hi-Tech Marketing.
If you understand the MLM network marketing concept, then you know that this business is a numbers proposition. And that is not a bad thing. The most benefit is gained when you build a large downline. The small effort of many will always be greater than the larger effort of one. Understanding the value that leverage gives you is essential to a successful network marketing career. And you never know if you might be recruiting the next MLM superstar.
What stops people from recruiting? Simply, the fear of rejection. Hearing that 'no' is not easy. Even the most successful didn't sign up everyone they ever recruited. Keep your eye on the goal because every time someone says 'no', it increases the odds that the next person will say 'yes'.
During a July 2009 speech Paul Orberson said, "I hate recruitment." And "Network marketing is only fun when you don't have to do it anymore." Wow, this is from the most successful man in network marketing history. Of course recruiting is hard. Complaining about the program or lack of time to recruit or anything else is just an excuse. What is his point? You will 'survive long enough to succeed' only if you put in the time and effort to recruit new reps and train them to do the same.
